 Eyewitness News at 10 is #1 Late News

Eyewitness News Wins in Early Morning and Midday Coverage

During the February 2013 ratings period, Eyewitness News was the clear winner with viewers for early morning news, midday news, and was #1 among late viewers in the Providence, RI/New Bedford, MA DMA. The ratings results show tremendous growth and continue to show a shift of more viewers counting on Eyewitness News for their local news from morning ‘til night.

When it comes to the late news, Eyewitness News at 10 on Fox Providence was once again the #1 rated newscast in all key demos in the Providence/New Bedford DMA. Eyewitness News at 10 was up 14% in P18-49, up 13% in P25-54, and up 26% in W25-54.

The success for Eyewitness News also extends around the clock with Eyewitness News This Morning. Eyewitness News at 4:30am is #1 in P25-54. While Eyewitness News This Morning at 6am on WPRI 12 grew dramatically from the November 2012 ratings period, its competitor, WJAR, was down from November in all key demos. Airing the only local newscast from 7:00am to 9:00am, Eyewitness News This Morning on Fox Providence showed impressive growth in all key demos year to year. In the 7am – 8am hour, Eyewitness News This Morning on Fox Providence was up 67% in P18-49, up 33% in P25-54, and up 70% in Women 25-54. In the 8am – 9am hour, Eyewitness News This Morning on Fox Providence was up 100% in P18-49, up 33% in P25-54, and up 160% in Women 25-54. In fact, Eyewitness News This Morning on Fox Providence beat Good Morning America in most key demos.

WPRI and Fox Providence also dominated the competition in prime time programming with 10 out of the top 10 programs.  WPRI (CBS) and Fox Providence were #1 and #2 respectively in household ratings and all key demographics.

The Rhode Show on WPRI 12 was another success story from the February 2013 ratings book. Rhode Island’s only local, lifestyle, news and entertainment program was up year to year 100% in P18-49, 400% in P25-54 and up 300% in W25-54.

WPRI’s growth also extends to its digital multi-screen coverage. In February, saw impressive growth in all performance areas. had a 171% increase in site visits, unique visitors growing 54% over February 2012, pages views up 77% year to year, and  video views growing 26%. Mobile total page views increased 85%, while video on mobile platforms was up 86%. With the news team’s commitment to non-stop, live coverage during the Blizzard of 2013, offered mutli-platform live streaming to help keep viewers informed. This viewership resulted in the site’s highest live stream viewership to date.
