Eyewitness News Has Fastest Growing Morning Newscasts
Eyewitness News Wins in Noon News Coverage
During the May 2013 ratings period, Eyewitness News was the only local station to have significant growth among local morning newscasts, to continue its dominance with its Noon News, and maintain substantial growth across all of its digital screens. This most recent ratings period continues to demonstrate the shift of viewers counting on Eyewitness News for their local news from morning ‘til night.
When it comes to the early morning news, Eyewitness News This Morning, on WPRI 12 and Fox Providence, is the fastest growing news in the market. Eyewitness News This Morning at 6:00am grew the most of all newscasts in the market and across all time periods in both household ratings and key demos in the Providence/New Bedford DMA; up 92% in A18-49 and up 83% in A25-54. Eyewitness News This Morning on Fox Providence beat Good Morning America in household ratings. In addition, WPRI 12 also saw terrific growth with CBS This Morning, growing A18-49 by 133% and A25-54 by 80%, while NBC’s Today Show dropped in ratings in A18-49.
Eyewitness News at Noon was #1 in ratings and in A18-49 and A25-54. The success for Eyewitness News also extends around the clock. More viewers are getting their late night news with Eyewitness News on Fox Providence at 10pm and WPRI 12 at 11pm combined versus anywhere else.

Having its best book to date, The Rhode Show on WPRI 12 was another success story from the May 2013 ratings book. Rhode Island’s only local, lifestyle, news and entertainment program was up year to year 250% in A18-49 and up 133% in A25-54.
WPRI 12 and Fox Providence also excelled in prime time programming with 4 out of the top 5 programs. WPRI (CBS) was ranked #1 in prime time in all key demographics.
WPRI’s growth also extends to its digital multi-screen coverage. In May, WPRI.com was the only local television news website to show significant growth in all key performance areas. WPRI.com had 55% more unique visitors than its closest competitor as well as 55% more pages views and 36% more visits.
