EYEWITNESS NEWS NAMES SHANNON HEGY AS ANCHORShannon Hegy

Karen Rezendes, News Director of WPRI/WNAC, is pleased to announce that Shannon Hegy has been named co-anchor of Eyewitness News. Hegy will be co-anchoring Eyewitness News at 5pm, 6pm, and 11pm with Mike Montecalvo, Chief Meteorologist Tony Petrarca, and Sports Anchor Yianni Kourakis. Her promotion is effective immediately.

Hegy will also be co-anchoring Eyewitness News at 6:30pm on Fox Providence with Steve Nielsen, Chief Meteorologist Tony Petrarca, and Sports Anchor Yianni Kourakis and Eyewitness News at 10:00pm on Fox Providence with Mike Montecalvo, Chief Meteorologist Tony Petrarca, and Sports Anchor Yianni Kourakis.

“Shannon has a natural ability to connect with people and a sincere desire to report on stories that impact our viewers,” says News Director Karen Rezendes.

A New England native, Shannon has been with Eyewitness News since October 2013. Previously, she anchored the news at WGGB-TV in Springfield, Massachusetts, where she worked her way up from reporter and assignment editor.

Shannon earned a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism from Hofstra University on Long Island, New York.
